First few days in the land of the Kiwi

Meeting up with friends

sunny 18 °C

So once we had arrived at the hotel and freshened up, we thought it would be a good idea to try to stay awake as long as we could to acclimatise to our new time zone, so we caught the hotel shuttle down to the harbour quay, and jumped on a ferry over to Devonport and climbed a small extinct volcano (as you do!!!) to get to the top, which gave us fantastic views of the Auckland skyline

After which we grabbed a meal in a charming, rustic little restaurant, caught the ferry back, both of us nearly falling asleep in our laps! We got back to the hotel and crashed out til the next day.

After a sumptuous brekkie we met up with our friends Louise and Duncan, who very kindly showed us around the city, finishing off at a contemporary restaurant overlooking the docks

The next day in Auckland we decided to treat ourselves to a Skytower experience, no, not the jumping off, but just a leisurely lunch in th 360 deg restaurant, where your view changes every few minutes, a great way to spend a few hours.
